Seeing earthquake results first hand

It was good to have the opportunity last week to visit Christchurch, meet local leaders, and see the damage caused by the February 22 earthquake, says New Zealand Christian Network National Director Glyn Carpenter.

‘Local church leaders are doing a wonderful job of supporting each other, their churches, and others in their communities. Most churches are also being supported through their national denomination structures.New Zealand Christian Network has offered to help in any way we can.'

Max Palmer and Murray Robertson recently called a meeting at Spreydon Baptist Church which was attended by over 200 pastors. One of the significant outcomes was an opportunity for churches which have been directly affected by the earthquake to record specific needs, and for others to offer resources.

These will soon be posted on a website set up by a new group, the Christchurch Churches Resources Co-ordination Group (http://ccrcg.com), and there will also be opportunity for people outside Christchurch to access the information and offer assistance.

Please continue to pray for all the leaders involved in the relief effort, for wisdom in decision-making, for resources to meet the needs, and for strength and rest.
